So, blog, it’s been a while… Sorry. How have you been? I’m bad. I neglect my blog, I neglect my email (sorry Mom!), I don’t like talking on the phone (sorry Mia!), and I’m just an all around bore. On the upside, though, I have two brilliant and amazingly adorable children. They are funny, talented, cute little kids, and I love them to death. So, forgive me, please, if I spend a little more time with them and less with you.
Mason made himself a bed out of an old wicker laundry basket the other day. He is still not speaking many words, so he gets what he wants by screaming, grunting, tugging, and pulling on you until you figure out just exactly what it is that he wants. Yesterday, he wanted a bed made out of a laundry basket and, this is how intuitive my wife is, Colleen figured out what he was doing.
The weather is allowing us to play outside once again and what a relief that is. If I had to be couped up inside this house to play dollhouse, or watch Spongebob, for one minute longer things would not have been pretty. I do not have a large repertoire of ideas in my head to entertain two small children for months on end in 1,500 square feet. We paint, we color, we play with play dough, we play on the computer, but, at some point, all that stuff gets old and you run out things to do. But, the weather broke, we’re outside again, we’re chalking on the sidewalk, we’re kicking the ball around, and all kinds of other things.
Violet has begun branching out from strictly drawing humans. Yesterday she drew a jellyfish.
She’s really getting a lot out of school this year. She can nearly spell her name (both writing and speaking). She drew it on the sidewalk yesterday, she had a little help with the “e” from Colleen.
She helped with the “s” in Mason’s name here:

We finished up the day with a song from the front steps:

We’re taking a trip to Asheville to see Grandpa Bob, Aunt Janet, and Uncle Kevin this weekend, wish us luck. We’ll be spending 8 hours in the car with Mason over the course of two days. We are not looking forward to that.
